Note: There is no signage anywhere pointing to “The Catlins”. The Southern Scenic Route leaves Highway 1 in Balclutha at High Street. Signs there indicate Owaka and Invercargill. The Southern Scenic Route in Invercargill turns off Elles Road at McQuarrie Street. Signs there indicate Fortrose, then later, Tokanui, then Balclutha and Papatowai.

Once in The Catlins, follow the Southern Scenic Route and about 10kms south of Owaka OR 16kms north from Papatowai - you will be at the turn off onto Catlins Valley Road. There is a large brown sign indicating Mohua Park, also large brown signs indicating the Catlins River Walk. Catlins Valley Road is a gravel road and 7.44 kms along the road you will be on the crest of a hill with the gateway to Mohua Park on the right. There is a Mohua Park sign and a blue number 744 on the fence. Turn into the drive and it will lead you to the garden and the Main House. The reception area is at the front of the house
